Clarification on Registry Fees when gifting and cashing out
With cash funds only, there is a standard gifting fee with all cash gifts received. This gifting fee covers the transactional costs of working with our financial partners. For credit card payments, the gifting fee is higher than bank account transfers due to credit card processing fees. This fee is a standard 2.95% for credit cards and bank accounts. Riley & Grey has opted to allow you to choose whether you want to pay this fee, or if your guests will pay this fee. Typically, guests will cover this cost, but some couples want the option to take it on themselves.
Once your guests gift you money through your cash fund, you can transfer this money to your bank account, redeem as pre-paid debit cards (with a 2% bonus value), or redeem as gift cards to your favorite retailers (often with a bonus value)!
Under the "Registry" tab of your editor, you will go to the "Gift Tracker" within the left-hand column. There you will see categories of "total gifts received", "total money received", and "available balance". Once your "available balance" exceeds $0.00, you can click "Transfer" to begin the process!
This will take you to https://www.rileygrey.com/v2/registry/payouts where you can choose how you wish to transfer the gifted money out of your Riley & Grey Registry. The options include the following:
- Gift cards with bonus value to top retailers - You can increase the value of your cash fund gifts by choosing to redeem the funds with a gift card specific to a desired retailer. The following retailers in the screenshot below are included for an example (plus many more!) This option provides you instant access to the money right away.
- Pre-Paid Debit Cards - Similarly, you can increase the value of your cash fund gifts by choosing to redeem the funds with virtual or physical Visa cards with a 2% Bonus! This option also provides you instant access to the money right away.
- Bank Account - Of course, you can simply transfer the funds to your Bank Account as well. When you choose this option, you will then be prompted to fill out your bank account information. There is no fee at this point in the process. You'll get every penny under "available balance", since gifting fees have already been accounted for at this point. Please keep in mind a standard 3-5 business days for direct deposit to your bank account when transferring funds and funds can be transferred to US bank accounts only.
